The Clear Choice
Would you like straighter teeth without having to wear metal braces? Invisalign clear aligners might be the solution for you. Thanks to modern dental technology, Invisalign performs the same function as metal braces but with these added benefits:
- You can remove aligners to eat and drink
- You are able to brush and floss your teeth more thoroughly
- Clear aligners are more aesthetically pleasing, no mouth full of metal
- They feel more comfortable than rigid metal brackets and wires
How Does Invisalign Work?
Invisalign uses a series of clear trays made of flexible plastic, custom-made to fit your mouth. They can be removed for eating as well as brushing and flossing. Like traditional braces, the clear aligners gradually shift teeth into a preferred position, using just the right amount of controlled force.
The process begins with using computer software to design a plan for shifting your teeth into the ultimate desired position. The movement of your teeth occurs in stages. For each stage you will receive a pair of aligners which should be worn for at least 20 hours per day.
How Long Does Treatment Last?
While every patient is different, it typically takes between 12 and 18 months to reach a desired outcome. The length of treatment can be prolonged, however, if the patient doesn’t wear them consistently for the required 20–22 hours per day.
Invisalign patients like the fact that aligners are hardly noticeable when wearing them. Teenagers and adults who would otherwise avoid braces because of the metal, will be pleased to know they can have straighter teeth and keep a white smile at the same time.
Another benefit that patients enjoy is being able to brush and floss their teeth without metal wires in the way. They also appreciate not having food stuck in their braces after eating.
