Don’t See Changes With Whitening Toothpaste?
Have you been using a tooth whitening toothpaste but still aren’t seeing any change? These toothpastes can slightly lighten your teeth by removing surface stains, but if you want to see whiter and brighter teeth, a professional whitening treatment can get you there in one 60-minute dental visit. Read on to find out more about this transformative treatment.
Our patients tell us time and time again how whitening treatments have given them confidence in their smile. They find themselves smiling and laughing more and look forward to getting their picture taken. If your teeth are stained and discolored from beverages like coffee and tea, from smoking tobacco, or medication and illness, a professional teeth whitening procedure can give you a brighter, whiter smile in as little as one hour.
In-Office Teeth Whitening Treatment
When done professionally, teeth whitening treatments can dramatically improve the color of your teeth by removing built-up stains. In-office treatments have the advantage of an experienced professional who can correctly apply the solution and make sure the proper amount is used.
It’s important that the solution does not come in contact with your gums, as it can irritate the soft tissue. We will ensure this does not happen. With an in-office treatment, we can also get your teeth up to 8 shades whiter than at-home kits.
The process begins with polishing your teeth and removing any plaque from the tooth surface. We will then put gauze in your mouth to keep your teeth dry and use a retractor to isolate the rest of your mouth from the teeth whitening solution.
We will then coat the front surface of your teeth with the whitening solution and use a light to activate the solution. We will repeat this process to get to the desired shade with the total treatment time lasting up to 60 minutes.
After treatment, we ask that you avoid foods and drinks with high pigment levels such as coffee, tea, wine, tomato sauce, and candies. Tobacco products should also be avoided.
