Sedation Dentistry
If you avoid visiting our office due to nervous feelings or fear of the dentist, please know that we are here to help you get the care that you need. We offer sedation dentistry to our patients who otherwise might not receive treatment. Sedation dentistry uses medication to help patients relax during dental treatments. Depending on the severity of the feelings of the patient we offer minimal and moderate sedation options. Sedation dentistry can help patients who experience:
- Phobia related to dental procedures
- Bad experiences with dental work in the past
- Particularly sensitive oral nerves
- Trouble sitting through long procedures
- Sensitivity to the smells, sights, and sounds of the dentist office
Sedation We Offer
Knowing the level of anxiety that patients experience will help our staff determine what level of sedation is required. We offer two forms in our office:
Nitrous Oxide
This gaseous form of sedation is used more frequently and is commonly known as “laughing gas”. This method creates a calming effect to help patients feel at ease and relaxed during dental procedures. One benefit of this method is the sedation is instantaneous and only lasts while the gas is administered. The effects are not lasting and you will be free to resume activities immediately following use.
Oral Sedation
For patients who experience severe nerves, we offer a more moderate approach to sedation. This method is taken in pill form and creates a sense of peace and calm before the patient arrives at our office. Due to the lasting effect, patients will not be able to drive to or from the appointment. Patients may be drowsy, but are still able to answer questions and have a sense of awareness.
If you are someone who avoids the dentist and has been putting off a cleaning or procedure out of fear, fear no longer and contact our office located in Wellington, FL to hear more about how sedation dentistry can help you. We hope to see you in our office soon.
