Warning! Warning!
Thankfully, in many cases, we are given a warning sign before something goes wrong. For example, cars have warning lights to indicate you are low on gas or that there may be a problem with your vehicle, allowing you to get your car checked before it breaks down and leaves you stranded. Your mouth works in much the same way. There are often warning signs that you have a problem in your mouth and it needs to be evaluated and repaired. The longer you ignore the warnings, the greater chance you will experience a dental emergency. Read on to learn warning signs in your mouth that you should never ignore.
Warning Signs Not to Ignore
With regular schedules resuming after the summer, many of us don’t have time to deal with a dental emergency. Thankfully, our mouths often give us a warning sign that a problem has developed. These warnings can include:
Discomfort or Changes in Your Teeth and Bite
If you frequently experience discomfort in your mouth, and you know it is not from poor brushing habits, you may be experiencing dental decay. We also recommend visiting our office if you notice your bite has suddenly changed or if there is anything else unusual about the appearance of your teeth, such as a sudden change in color, crack or chip in your tooth or if they feel loose.
Dry Mouth
Dry mouth occurs when there is a lack of saliva. It is a common side effect of many medications and can lead to increased tooth decay. If you experience frequent dry mouth, be sure to visit our office and increase your water intake.
Tooth Sensitivity
If you have difficulties with foods and drinks that are extremely hot or cold, you may be suffering from tooth sensitivity. It is one of the warning signs of damage to your tooth enamel.
If you experience any of the warnings mentioned above, be sure to contact our office in Wellington, FL to schedule an appointment. The sooner we can see you, the better chance you have of avoiding a serious dental emergency.
